A spending control enables you to limit and control your cardholders' spending. The spending controls enable you to limit merchants, countries and transaction values.

To create a new spending control, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Cards module and click Manage.

2. In the Manage section, click the Spending Controls subheading.

3. Click New Spending Control.

4. On the pop-up window, enter the details for the spending control as required.

  • Name - enter the spending control name.

  • Merchant Categories - select the categories you'd like to either allow or block for the spending control.

  • Merchant Countries - select the countries you'd like to either allow or block for the spending control.

  • Spending Limits - set the spending limits for the spending control.

    • Amount - enter the spending amount limit.

    • Interval - set the interval for the spending limit (e.g. Daily or Per Authorisation).

    • Categories - set the categories the spending limit applies to.

Note: If a spending control has overlapping spending limits (e.g. £100 per authorisation for all categories and £50 per authorisation at category level), the most restrictive spending control would apply (e.g. £50).

5. Click Create.

A banner will appear at the top of the screen to confirm that the spending control has been created.

Note: If you have multiple spending controls set up, you can mark a spending control as the default option for when creating a new cardholder. To mark a spending control as the default option, click the three dots icon and select Make Default from the drop-down.
